10 places the #phillybear was probably hiding

Update 6:30 p.m.: The bear has reportedly been captured.

A black bear has been traipsing around Philadelphia for at least a few days now. It was spotted in East Falls and Andorra this week.

On Thursday afternoon, authorities were combing Northwest Philly to find the creature and news choppers circling overhead, hoping for a glimpse. It was eventually shot by a tranquilizer in the woods in Roxborough, and then captured just after 6 p.m.

The creature kept local game officials on their toes. It led them on a trail along SEPTA tracks on Wednesday, and before that was likely somewhere in Montgomery or Bucks counties. After capture, the plan is to transport it safely a few hours west.

To those who were searching: we totally get it. It’s like when you lose your keys and find them in the fridge! Crazy, right? Did you try retracing your steps?

Here at Billy Penn, we wanted to help, so we came up with a few ideas for where the big mammal was hiding.
